Like always, we have had some of our wonderful designers/crafters do these
amazing balsa wood crafts. They have done an amazing job and spent a good

Enjoyable and inspiring balsa wood crafts
The talented teacher from Russia created and patented a totally new way of working with wood chips for creating beautiful sculptures that delight and impress. 53 year old Sergei Bobkov, who lives and works in Krasnoyarsk, likes to explore unusual and new design ideas, that celebrate wild life.
It is not interesting to repeat what others do, the craftsman says. To create something out of nothing and developing new ideas are far more enjoyable and inspiring.

Never Fade Wood Flowers
Balsa wood is well known for its excellent floatation ability and is popular
for use in surfboards. It is also used for building model airplanes. It is one
of the most popular woods for carving because it is soft enough to carve with a
knife. Another common use for balsa wood is in building miniature furniture for
doll houses, and sometimes for making beautiful and never fade flowers. To
enjoy!

Bead heads crafts Step by Step
When I was a little girl my grandparents lived on Salt Spring Island and we would visit them often in the summer. Salt Spring has always been known for being home to some of BC's most 'artistic characters' so there were always lots of artsy things in the little shops in the village. That's likely where I bought this. . . er . . .
. . . bead head . . ?
And the strangest part is that I kept it all these years in a little box with my other "treasures"?!
But when I look at it I am instantly a kid again which is why I thought my kids and I should make something like it!
Now, I'll be totally honest here . . .
their first questions were "What is it?" and "What is it for?" and truthfully I wasn't able to come up with an answer, but we ended up having fun anyways! ;o)
So we got out the tin of beads . . . yum!
And then chose the basic materials
1 large bead
1 smaller bead
2 googly eyes
glue
And then played around a bit . . .. . .
and eventually ended up with these!
We still don't really know what to call them or do with them, but who knows, the kids may find them 30 years from now in a little box of theirtreasures?
